Living well on purpose
Living well on purpose. What do those words mean to you?
I asked some of my internet friends and here’s what they had to say….
Purposely doing what's best and healthy for you instead of just doing your thing and hoping for the best.
-Tres
Being comfortable enough economically to not have to make choices between wants and needs.
- Mike
To me it’s making the conscious choice to live a healthy lifestyle.
- Jack
Making conscience choices that are better for "future Joey" than "right now Joey." Whether that's by not having one more beer, or not eating this half gallon of ice cream, or not spending money on takeout cause I have food at home, or not buying something that I don’t need because it cost "X dollars" when that money can go towards something better.
- Joey
Being able to be fit and present with my family. My dad was well overweight when I was my daughter’s age so never got to do many active things. Don't want to be that.
- Jeremy
I appreciate hearing different opinions on the matter.
When I think of “living well on purpose,” the words time and effort always comes up.
Making an effort to eat healthy meals involves grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, and perhaps meal planning. I suppose it would be possible to eat healthy meals at a restaurant, but typically healthier meals are going to be more expensive.
Making an effort to get regular movement in may require money to be spent on new shoes or a gym membership (if that’s your thing). It will at least typically require an assessment of how time is spent.
Time and effort spent on mental wellbeing- which is very individualized, just like anything in the health and wellness world.
I could keep going on and on but it might take me a month to collect my thoughts. I’d love to hear what you would add to this conversation.
